The atypical emission - line star Hen 3 - 209 ⋆
We analyse observations, spanning 15 years, dedicated to the extreme emission-line object Hen 3-209. Our photometric data indicate that the luminosity of the star undergoes marked variations with a peak-to-peak amplitude of 0.65 mag. These variations are recurrent, with a period of 16.093±0.005 d. The spectrum of Hen 3-209 is peculiar with many different lines (H , He , Fe ,...) showing P C...
متن کاملSpectroscopy of B - type emission - line stars with compact dusty envelopes : HD 85567 , Hen 3 – 140 , and Hen 3 – 1398
We report the results of our spectroscopic observations (3600–5900 Å, R ≃ 16 000 and 5750–8750 Å, R ≃ 11 000) of three southern emission-line B–type stars associated with IRAS sources, HD 85567, Hen 3–140, and Hen 3–1398, whose nature and evolutionary state are not well-established yet. We also obtained new multicolour photometry of HD 85567 (UBV (RI)cJHKL) and Hen 3–140 (JHKLM). A large near-I...
متن کاملEmission line star 3 G 71 : a Herbig Ae / Be star candidate
We present new optical spectral observations of 3G71, the previously suspected optical counterpart of the hard X-ray source 1H2214+589. The spectra of 3G71 exhibit many forbidden lines, unusually intense H-Balmer emission lines and the approximately B5 spectral type. Such spectral features, together with its large IRAS infrared color excess and associated with nebulosity, provide evidences that...
متن کاملModeling O-Star X-Ray Emission-Line Profiles
X-ray emission from hot (Oand B-type) stars is a long-standing astrophysical puzzle. High-resolution x-ray spectroscopy of hot stars resolves emission line profile shapes, offering direct insight into the dynamics and spatial distribution of the x-ray-emitting plasma. The O supergiant ζ Puppis shows broad, blueshifted, and asymmetric line profiles, generally consistent with the wind-shock pictu...
متن کاملExtraordinarily Hot X - Ray Emission from the O 9 Emission Line Star Hd 119682
We present new optical and X-ray observations to show that the X-ray source 1WGA J1346.5−6255 previously associated with the SNR G309.2-0.6 can be unequivocally identified with the emission line star HD 119682 located in the foreground open cluster NGC 5281. Images from Chandra in the X-ray band as well as from Magellan in the narrow optical Hα band show a coincidence of the source positions wi...
